Most of the Causeway is in Ottawa County. There are feeders at the Bird Center and trails into the marsh. If there is a Bald Eagle nest in this area some of the trails may be closed.

This is the area around the Black Swamp Bird Observatory office and visitor center, including feeders and the trails that connect with Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge. Magee Marsh is just one of those special places that you have to come back to year after year. Here you'll find all the information you need to plan a trip to this warbler mecca.

Magee Marsh Wildlife Area supports an abundance of wildlife, but is probably best known as one of the top birding spots in North America for migrating songbirds, especially warblers. Birding at Magee Marsh can be done year-round, but the second and third week of May typically provide the most diverse numbers of songbird species for bird watchers.
